How to host an online quiz night with friends
A quiz night is the easiest party to throw: no venue, no prep, and everyone can join from their phone. Here's a simple plan that works on a video call, in a hostel room or at a family get-together.
1. Pick three or four rounds
Mix something everyone knows with something for the specialists. A good running order: a warm-up general knowledge round, a crowd favourite like cricket or Bollywood, a picture round (country shapes or monuments), and a finale on a topic your group argues about.
2. Make a room and share the link
On Quix, tap Rooms, choose a mode (1v1 Duel, Squad for 4 or Party for up to 8) and a topic, then copy the invite link into your group chat. Friends who open it join straight away, and nobody needs to install anything or create an account first.
3. Ready up and play
Everyone taps Ready, the host taps Start, and Quix runs the round: ten questions, ten seconds each, scored automatically. No one has to read out answers or keep a scoresheet.
4. Rematch, then switch topics
When a round ends everyone lands back in the same room, so a rematch is one tap. Change the topic between rounds to keep it fair, and keep a running tally of who won each round.
Tips for a great night
- Short of players? Fill empty seats with Quixbots so the room is always full.
- Play the daily quiz together first as a warm-up.
- Agree a small prize: the loser picks the next movie or orders the snacks.
